ROTARY

ROADTRIP

CHAPTER 1

ICONS IN THEIR OWN CLASS

There is something special about rotary engines. The sound is, at least to say, unique, and the revs are ear-deafeningly satisfying. Of course, the technology has flaws regarding seals, but who cares if you are an enthusiast. I met Christiaan and Duane long ago, and they are both rotary enthusiasts. So then came the idea, let's go on a road trip. On the left (photo above) is a grey FB from 1983 (Duane), and on the right is an FC from 1986 (Christiaan). Two lovely icons from the '70s and '80s.

''When the 13B revs up high, you just want to get out and buy a rx-7 right away. The aftermarket exaust really suits the car perfectly''

CHAPTER 2

13B SYMPHONY

The red FC is by far the loudest of the two. It is mostly original except for the wheels and the exhaust. When the 13b revs high, you just want to go out and buy an RX-7 right away. The aftermarket exhaust suits the car perfectly. The deep rims give the car just enough subtle width to accentuate the lines of the car. On the inside of the car, you'll find a typical 80's / 90's interior from japan. The 150 hp 13B is more than enough to give you a smile on your face.

CHAPTER 3

THE GREY UNDERDOG

Personally, the coolest of the two for me is the FB from Duane. The 12A rotary produces around 116 hp. Well, you could say that it is not a lot of horsepower. But the car only has a curb weight of 1070 kg. It is more than enough for a good fun factor. The car has its own will when it comes to exhaust bangs. It gives the car a lot of character. The interior of the car is full of subtle easter eggs. If you spot them, place a comment on youtube. Duane has put the car on very time-period correct Watanabe rims. It is beautiful to see that people keep these kinds of vehicles on the road.

CHAPTER 4

ROTARY ROADTRIP

These two cars are undoubtedly classics and should be cherished at all cost. I think i can speak for every car fanatic when i say, Wankel engines are one of the most epic engines ever build. But not everyone dares to buy one. I do hope to join the rotary club one day. For now is a dream that is not a big priority. If you like burnt oil, high revs and loud exhaust bangs. Please watch the video below of our epic roadtrip.
