GRAN TURISMO ALLEGGERITA

CHAPTER 1

ITALIAN BEAUTY

When it comes to car design, only one country knows exactly how to do it right. Do I need to say more? The same goes for the Alfa Romeo 156 GTA from Metin. You see a piece of art from every angle you look at it. When you open the hood, another piece of art reveals itself—the legendary Busso 3.2l V6 engine. Among enthusiasts claimed as the best sounding engine in the world. Sometimes what people claim can be very overrated. But in this case, I'll have to give it to them.

CHAPTER 2

FATE OR COINCIDENCE

The interesting part of his story is that metin never grew up in an Alfa-holic family. Usually, car enthusiasts get their interest from their parents or a family member(s). But Metin's path to Alfa Romeo is a little different. He never took a significant interest in alfa. Until a friend of him owned an Alfa Romeo 147. When Metin got his license, he could take over the car from his friend. And so, an Alfa-holic was born. His next car became another 147, and after that, a MiTo. He has driven them all without big problems, which I consider a miracle. At one point, he saw this 156 GTA on Facebook marketplace. After a message and a visit on the same day, he is the proud owner of the 156 GTA. Metin had to work to make it the car it is today. He did a great job perfecting the vehicle as it is.

CHAPTER 3

THE ''LIGHTWEIGHT'' ALFA

Alfa romeo didnt use the GTA name for a long time. It stands gran turismo alleggerita. ''Alleggerita'' means lightweight in Italian. The original GTA was the race version of the 1300 GT junior (1965). They stripped the car down as far as possible, hence the lightweight part. The GTA name was revived with the introduction of the first gen 147 in 2001. In all honesty, the 156 GTA is more a homage to the original than a successor. Only for one particular reason, it isn't lightweight. But that doesn't spoil the fun at all. The Busso V6, when it starts revving, is just too satisfying to ignore. Metin is one lucky guy to own such a piece of art from Italy.

CHAPTER 4

NEW INSIGHTS

I never was much of an enthusiast when it came to Alfa's. My dad owned a few but never really got me into them. I'm more of a Volvo guy (i know they can be boring). Just read this article here, and you can see what kind of Volvo I own. Having said that. After meeting Metin and his 156 GTA, I started looking at Alfa Romeo differently. He opened my eyes to something I never actually saw. To the point, that I'm considering that my next car could be a 159 TBI. When people stick to a brand, it is because they haven't had problems with those cars. In the case of Metin, he always had luck with Alfa's, so he sticks to a winning team, and i don't blame him. Besides Alfa's are some beautiful machines. He told me his next car would be his dream car—the Alfa 147 GTA. I sincerely hope that he gets his dream car.
